Through the Valley
Of the Shadow
Through the Valley of the Shadow is a unique account of a sudden illness that incapacitated a seasoned healthcare provider and eventually led to his death experience on May 27, 2015. He returned after 20 minutes of continuous CPR and then spent months fighting to regain normal activity. As a long-time Christian, he was perplexed by the symptoms he had and how it could happen to someone dedicated to God. He sought answers to his condition and the reasons for his suffering.
This book shows the physical and spiritual journey Dave Coleman took to find his answers. Through his Bible readings and interactions with those around him, he explains how God helped him understand things better and how, in spite of his trials, God was able to give him an overwhelming peace to face each new day and each new challenge that arose.
Bedside Manner
A Practical Guide To Interacting With Patients is a book long overdue. Although advances in medical science occur daily, the act of genuine compassion is rarely seen. This book defines bedside manner far beyond the doctor-patient realm and expands the concept to where it really lies—with all who contact the patient.
Providers and staff alike can find benefits through enhancing personal communication skills and ultimately refining the art of their trade. No matter where patients go for care or what specialty they need, this topic permeates all facets of medicine. Bedside Manner provides clear, understandable examples of good and bad healthcare interactions and ways to avoid common pitfalls.
Reviews
Dave Coleman is a friend as well as a brother in Christ to my wife and me. He was able to write a book about his experience with a potentially fatal disease. Most people would have taken the experience on a physical basis. Dave took a totally different outlook because of his faith in his savior, Jesus Christ.
The book makes you laugh, cry and reflect on your own faith. You feel as if Dave is reading the book to you. The book is an incredible testimony to Dave's walk with the Lord. This will not only help non-Christians but can be uplifting and inspiring to Christians who may be struggling with their faith. This is an unbelievable story.

Reading “Through the Valley of the Shadow” by David Coleman was a real encouragement in understanding our faith in Christ. That no matter how dire the circumstances may appear to be in our lives, we can fully trust in God’s sovereignty over our lives as His children.
Yes, Christians die, but when we fully submit to His will for our lives, as David did, we can be very surprised by His desire to use us in very special ways. The darkness that may appear to surround us is not intimidating when we fear no evil and trust in Him. I have shared this book with others facing medical calamities and found them to be encouraged as well in their journeys. But these truths will help us all to courageously face whatever calamities may arise in our lives, and find victory in Christ.
